The Old Dock Tour In Liverpool
We headed into Liverpool for a guided tour of the Old Dock organized by National Museums Liverpool. It was revealed during excavations in 2001 for the building of Liverpool One.
The Old Dock was completed in 1715 at a cost of £12,000 and nearly bankrupted its builder. Its success paved the way for the expansion of the docks in Liverpool and the growth of the city in the 18th century. The pool, which gave Liverpool its name was filled in. The dock and quays were built on the reclaimed land.
